Adams’ 2022 was lost to a torn quadriceps that he suffered in Week 1. Since being acquired from the Jets in 2020, Adams has appeared in 25 of a possible 50 games, as he’s battled a number of injuries in recent years. When healthy, Adams is among the league’s best safeties, proving to be a force in pass coverage and against the run. He and Bobby Wagner will look to form a formidable unit and improve on last year’s defense that allowed the seventh most yards and eighth most points per game last season.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Jaxon Smith-Njigba (wrist) is a “long shot” for Week 1 against the Rams.

Smith-Njigba, by all accounts, will miss about a month after undergoing wrist surgery on Tuesday. The rookie injured his wrist in the Seahawks’ Week 2 preseason game against the Cowboys on a catch and run for a near touchdown. The fantasy prospects of both Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf get a big boost for the season opener against a middling Rams secondary. Meanwhile, Smith-Njigba’s redraft ADP will likely drop a round or two, making him an interesting bench stash in 12-team leagues.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Jaxon Smith-Njigba will undergo wrist surgery.

Smith-Njigba injured his wrist on a near-touchdown in Saturday’s preseason game against the Cowboys. Schefter said the rookie could be ready for Week 1, though the surgery itself will determine JSN’s recovery period. If JSN misses the season’s first week or two, Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf would resume their role as target dominators in the Seattle offense. We could see Smith-Njigba’s redraft ADP fall in the coming days.

King said Walker, who resumed practicing last week after sitting out with the groin issue, should be fine to open the season against the Rams. Walker’s redraft ADP has slipped a bit since the groin injury, making him a solid RB2 target in 12-team formats. Walker in 2022 was among the league leaders in explosive runs from scrimmage.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba caught 3-of-3 targets for 58 yards in the Seahawks’ preseason matchup against the Cowboys.

JSN’s big play came on a deep shot from Drew Lock, where he beat a trailing defender to the ball for a 48-yard gain and was tackled a yard short of the end zone. He’s now been targeted seven times in two preseason games and has a combined receiving line of 6-83-0. The Seahawks’ first-round pick will face stiff target competition from D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett, but he’s been as advertised this offseason and appears ready to fill whatever role the Seahawks give him in 2023.

It ended up taking Walker 21 days to make it all the way back from his groin tweak. Zach Charbonnet, who had been labeled as out “indefinitely” with a shoulder issue, ended up missing far less time. Despite Charbonnet’s presence, Walker continues to feel like an underpriced RB2 in summer fantasy drafts.

Brooks underwent ACL reconstructive surgery in January. The team declined his fifth-year option entering the new league year due to injury concerns, meaning the veteran linebacker will be playing for a new contract in the 2023 season. Brooks started 33 games for the Seahawks over the previous two seasons.

Coach Pete Carroll said reports were positive on Johnson after getting carted off in the team’s preseason opener. Johnson, a 2021 UDFA that appeared in three games last year, is competing for one of the final receiver spots with WR Dee Eskridge suspended the first six weeks.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said rookie RB Zach Charbonnet “looked really physical” in his preseason debut.

“Looked good, didn’t he?” Carroll said in his post-game comments. “He looked really physical. Guys on the sidelines were going crazy for him. He’s had a great start with us.” Charbonnet didn’t start with DJ Dallas getting the first few carries but was active while Ken Walker (core) didn’t play. That could change next week, with Charbonnet a candidate to start if Walker remains sidelined. The longer Walker is out the more chances Charbonnet will get to climb the depth chart before Week 1.
